There are many different practical, simple home cleaning solutions you can use. Without having to resort to buying toxic cleaning chemicals. You don’t need a degree in chemistry to combine a few ingredients and make an effective cleaner that is safe and able to get rid of stains, dirt and grime with ease. One of the best tools for any home cleaning enthusiast is toothpaste. You might think it’s just for cleaning your teeth, but wait until you try to clean your house with it. You will be amazed at how versatile it is and how easy it is to use.

Great for Footwear

If you have some old shoes or sneakers that need a bit of freshening up, then toothpaste is a great solution. Use some non-gel toothpaste, a toothbrush that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty and a damp cloth. Just scrub up those shoes with the toothpaste and toothbrush and then wipe it all away with the damp cloth. It’s a simple and effective way to bring some shine back to shoes that polish doesn’t really work on.

Polish Jewelry

Toothpaste is also effective on precious metals, particularly silver. If you have some jewelry that doesn’t shine as much as it used to, brush some toothpaste on it and use a damp cloth to scrub or a small toothbrush, depending on the shape and size of the jewelry. Simply wipe off the residue, and you will have jewelry that looks as good as the day you bought it.

Clean Metalworks

Precious metal isn’t the only kind of metal you can use toothpaste on effectively. It’s great for getting rid of water spots and encrusted grime, which makes it a perfect solution for cleaning your faucets and shower fixtures. You can use it in the bathroom or kitchen to clean every faucet and handle, giving them a sparkling, clean shine. Apply the toothpaste with a toothbrush or mix in some water and scrub the liquid toothpaste solution on the metal fixture using a scrub pad. Then just wipe the handles, faucets and other metalworks clean when you are done.

Get Rid of Crayon Marks

If you have kids that just love to draw everywhere, especially on anything other than paper, then you probably have some crayon marks on the walls. Instead of fighting with the marks to get them clean with hot water and a scrub pad like most people do, you can use toothpaste and a rag or scrubbing pad. It will still take some effort to remove the crayon markings, but it’s a lot easier than just about any other method. Once you have scrubbed the toothpaste over the markings, be sure to rinse the wall with some water.
These are just a few of the dozens of ways you can use toothpaste in your home cleaning efforts. You can have a home that look great without spending a lot of money or using toxic chemicals.
